Fashion accessories made with recycled cardboard

Upcycled Identity
This project aims to upcycle used cardboard, commonly found in luxury packaging. While such packaging is designed to elevate brand identity and enhance the customer experience, it is often criticized for creating excessive and unnecessary waste.

For packaging, the recycle of cardboard is already a common practice. However, Cardboard Revival project transforms cardboard into fashion accessories, such as ties and bowties, increasing their value while keep in line the brand image of the LVMH. As highly visible elements of an outfit, these accessories become both a statement piece and a symbolic gesture. By placing upcycled cardboard at the center of attention, the design challenges conventional fashion norms while serving as a visible marker of sustainability awareness and eco-conscious identity.

All cardboard is from the used packaging provided by LVMH.



Visual language from fashion brands
As a collaboration with LVMH, the visual identity of the accessories was designed to align with the brand values and aesthetics of luxury fashion houses within the group. To reflect this, the visual language draws inspiration from brands like Gucci and Christian Dior, incorporating a vintage aesthetic characterized by floral illustrations and an overall sense of elegance and refinement.


 
Crafting Connections
Decoupage is the technique used to create the graphics on the ties, using non-toxic ink and glue to apply printed patterns. The resulting accessory is entirely biodegradable and can be recycled again, reinforcing its sustainable intent.

The hand-crafted nature of decoupage also makes it ideal for workshops held during brand campaigns or events. These workshops encourage customers to repurpose cardboard packaging by following the existing patterns found inside the boxes—turning waste into wearable design. This interactive workshop not only deepens brand engagement and emotional connection with the product, but also promotes creative sustainability and individual expression across different seasons and occasions, and can be a part of a brand compaign.
