Windlass is a clothes stand that brings the joy and beauty of maritime into the domestic context.

Inspiration
For me, the beauty of the tall ship lies in the rope-and-pulley system, creating a stunning symphony with the mast and the sail.
I aim to translate the essence of this beauty into a domestic context, in the form of a clothes stand.
Development
Much of Windlass’s design language comes from nautical influences, from structures and shapes to features, colors, and materials.
The main structure is inspired by the mast and pulley system, turning the clothes hanging on the rack into sails and the action of adjusting the rack’s volume into the act of raising sails.
The design of the base is drawn from buoys, creating a sense of rocking and floating on the waves.
Playful interaction
The pulley system of Windlass is controlled by the wheel at the bottom, hence the name.
By turning the wheel and adjusting the length of the rope, Windlass can transform from a more compact composition to a fully extended one. To lock the structure in a specific position, simply move the end of the rope to the center of the wheel.
